Golden Chariot in the Making

I just couldn't wait any longer! I have been riding this bike to work quite often and I have been saving up a bit to fix it up. I ordered this basket, this spray paint, and this floral wreath from Amazon.com and I have been waiting for their arrival to get started on the project. The basket was shipped so quickly! And staring at it, I just couldn't help myself. The weather was warmer and I had an extra can of gold spray paint around so I figured I might as well just get started now and see how I like the gold.

It came out beautifully! The paint job is a little iffy as I did not have the tools on hand to take the bike apart, but I maneuvered well enough using suran wrap and a piece of cardboard to protect the tires, kickstand, handles, and peddles from being sprayed. There is a bit of gold flakes that blew in the wind on certain spots, but I am okay with this! I stuck some dried flowers in the basket and I'm feeling pretty set to go until I find a new seat, a crate for the back, and have the flower garland for the front. I believe I will still like the copper metallic spray paint the best, but I will still try this color out for now. What do you think about the gold?

Winter Days

I've been quite busy with my new job and haven't had much time to post any new photographs. But today the snow came down so beautifully, and although it did not stay for long, Ollie and I had a splendid time eating snowflakes.

Ophelia, Where Have You Gone?

"Ophelia, Where Have You Gone?" by Guinevere Von Sneeden

Imbolc Bunny

Spring is surely on her way! I brought home some tulips and wax flowers today and Ollie was very interested in them. Wax flower was always my favorite filler flower to work with at the flower shop and I never seize to pick some up when I see them out in the shops.

It is 61 degrees Fahrenheit here and everyone is quite happy about it! The house is singing blossom filled songs and the window are open and cleaning out the air. Mourning doves are laying together in the sunlight outside and Ollie cuddled along side the fence to join them. Always a bunny on the move, he even stopped to smell the flowers today.

After our outdoor adventure I came in to cook and walked in to find these two lounging in the last bit of sun for the day.

These two are such a blessing, growing up in a big family I love to have something always going about the house and with these to mischievous animals there almost always is. In the above photograph is my wedding dress hanging from the wall. My mother and father found it for me on Ebay while out to lunch and they couldn't have done better!! It's a 50's dream and knowing that I would most likely be the last to wear her I lived her up that night. We danced and danced and the bottom lace is all torn and purple from wine stains. This might sound horrible to someone else, but every time I see those purple rims my heart fills up with the thought of our most magical night.

Dandelion wisps are embroidered in silver thread at the bottom and lace flowers line the top. After writing this I am now most certainly inspired to write up a blog post just for the dress.

I hope you all are enjoying your day, wherever you are!

Allt verkade indränkt i lavendel.

Tending the Hollyhocks

"Tending the Hollyhocks" by Guinevere Von Sneeden

Winter Days

Winter here has been so lovely. The days are quiet and peaceful and with the job I currently have, I have been able to spend many days at home. I love winter to my core. With a mind that is always so distracted, it is so peaceful to me to see the bareness of things. To see the spirit of the trees and bushes around my home and then slowly await the arrival of their fancy summer decoratives.  Much of my most meaningful time with nature was spent outside, just waiting for the snow to fall. When it piled up quite high, I would spend hours trying to practice walking on top of the snow. I was convinced that if I concentrated “just right” that I would be as light as a feather, my feet would not penetrate the snow and that I would walk right on top of it without so much as a crunch.  Sure enough, sometimes it would work. Let’s just forget about the fact that I probably weighed 50 lbs. at the time and that there was probably a sheet of ice on top of the snow... I did it. And it was one of the most magical experiences of my life. I believe this is when I started to figure out that if you manifest something for yourself it can truly happen. I believe this is a lot of what magic is all about.

Thank you winter! And although I don’t think you are quite finished yet... when it is your time, I will happily watch you as you gracefully blow out with the new growth of the daffodils.

A New Painting

"Sleeping Bunnies" by Guinevere Von Sneeden

Snow Bunny

While the north of the country got bundles and bundles of snow, our mountains have remained well protected this winter and for the first time since Halloween we got a bit of a dusting. Being a lover of winter and snow, I was hoping for a bit more of a white winter, but seeing Ollie delight in his first snow was such a pleasure!!

A Visit to Carl Sandburg's House

Some weekends my husband and I like to travel out to Carl Sandburg's home in Flat Rock, North Carolina. An absolutely wonderful home of a talented writer, a lovely hike to the top of the mountain and we always are sure to spend some time with Mrs. Sandburg's goats.

It was a lovely January day and full of love and laughter and stories. I'm glad to have been able to capture parts of it in photographs! It definitely gave me a lot of inspiration and this guardian cat was an absolute delight to meet.

Thank you for stopping by!
